I am a full-service luthier
From re-stringing, to crack repairs, fingerboard dressing, soundpost adjustments, plate re-graduations, all the way up to fully-handmade, custom builds; I've got what it takes to put an instrument in your hands that will help you express a little bit of your soul--and with my instruments being played from the Philadelphia Philharmonic to the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, rest assured you're in good hands.
In order to present an accurate quote for repairs, I must be able to inspect the instrument by hand, and ideally see or hear you play--if the instrument is in playable condition. If neither of those options are possible, I will offer a range of estimates and present a finalized quote once an inspection is completed.
I am, as always, offering contactless pickup/dropoff to clients in Waterloo Region, Brant County and Guelph, and continuing to offer "ship-to-door" service to clients outside of the area.
For custom builds, I prefer to work one-on-one with the client in order to develop a plan of action that will best suit their unique needs as a musician and their budget. This collaboration yields a more rewarding experience for us both, and seeing you play informs some of my decisions in terms of both ergonomics and in helping shape the instruments' tone.

BENCH RATE$60/hrThis is my fixed rate for all services and repairs.
(Though I offer discretionary discounts for students, schools, and for large repair jobs) Billing by the minute means there's never any rounding-up, and unlike more unscrupulous repair-shops, I'll never bill for idle dry-time. |
COMMISSIONED INSTRUMENTS$2000-$18,000From intermediate-grade violins for advancing students, to Master-quality cellos and basses for soloists, I will work with you to build an instrument that will suit your unique needs as a player.
WAITLIST: cleared! An opening is available for 1 custom instrument effective immediately! |
in-stock instruments
I am not a string-instrument dealer - so I sell what I make, and fix what I don't. This means I don't need to keep up a physical storefont, which helps keep overhead low, and my prices competitive. As a result, the only inventory I carry are the instruments made by my own two hands.
I've always got a stock-build or three on the go, and those will appear in the shop once they pass my rigorous testing and inspections.
There are well over 100 man-hours in every build (plus dry-time), so they tend to come up every 6-8 weeks.
If you want to beat the (steadily-growing) line and secure an instrument BEFORE it's listed, feel free to reach out and I'll show you what I've got in the works!
